Severity major: Test: many third parties (a stated count of two or more affected parties). Fact: the BBB has received more than 150 reports about LipoMax in recent months.
Scammers used AI-generated deepfake videos of celebrities and medical professionals to promote a weight loss supplement called LipoMax on Facebook and Instagram. The Better Business Bureau reported receiving more than 150 reports about the product in recent months. One Illinois resident lost more than $400 after watching a fake video of Oprah Winfrey appearing to endorse the product. The BBB advised consumers to check celebrity endorsements on the celebrity's own pages and to close out of ads that pressure quick purchases or direct buyers to a health coach seeking extra payment. No AI system, developer or deployer is identified in the reporting, which describes a fraud campaign rather than an autonomous system failure.

Notes on gaps
The $400 loss is stated as more than $400 and is not recorded as an exact amount. The 150 reports are a lower bound and are not treated as a count of affected parties beyond that statement.
