Lobstar Wilde AI agent sends $441K in tokens after decimal error
Preliminary Why: Publisher not yet named · subject to change
Status: no action reported
No source states: developer and model, agent tool, could do, deployer, industry.
Severity moderate: bounded scope stated (a single transaction) and a third-party wallet received the funds
Lobstar Wilde, a crypto trading AI agent created by an OpenAI employee, was set up to turn $50,000 worth of Solana tokens into $1 million through trades. When an X user asked for 4 SOL to fund a claimed medical treatment, the agent sent a transaction that the source reports as $441,780 worth of tokens to the requester's wallet. The creator said the agent had been told to make no mistakes. The agent later admitted the error, and the recipient sold part of the tokens for around $40,000. Its cause is not confirmed; a user speculated it misread a decimal in the interface.
