A Russia-aligned disinformation network produced fabricated videos that falsely accused Democratic US Senate candidate James Talarico of sexual abuse. The videos, posted on X on 20 October 2026, used the identity of a real former pupil, Zyon Lewis, who did not appear in them. Fact-checkers, including Lead Stories, PolitiFact and NewsGuard, together with Graphika, examined the material. Detection software gave high AI-generation scores, and the real pupil denied the allegations. Graphika said it assessed with high confidence that Storm-1516 produced the material. X suspended the original account by 22 October, though copies kept circulating. Public findings do not identify the individual creators or show any campaign involvement.
