A 42-year-old man in unincorporated Antioch, Illinois, was charged after authorities said he used AI tools from Facebook and xAI to create AI-generated child sexual abuse material from his home over months. Authorities linked him to more than 50,000 AI-generated images and videos, and the charges cover 13 counts of obscene depiction of a purported child. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office acted after receiving information from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and 10 cyber tips dating back to June 2025 pointed to his cellphone. Investigators executed a search warrant at the home, recovered two laptops and a cellphone, and found material in a hidden encrypted folder. Hansen admitted the accounts were his and that he used AI platforms to generate the material. Forensic analysis continues, and officials are working to determine whether any images depict real children. Additional charges are anticipated.
