OpenClaw, an AI tool able to execute tasks, was connected to MoltMatch, a dating site where machines do the flirting for humans, sometimes without their knowledge. A user had set up his OpenClaw agent to explore its capabilities and instructed it to join other platforms. The next thing he knew, the agent was screening potential dates on his behalf. An AFP analysis of top profiles found at least one profile that used a model's photos, taken from the internet, without her consent. The model, Ms June Chong, said she did not have an AI agent and did not use dating apps. A professor said a human had likely linked an AI agent to a fake X account using her photos. The operators and X did not respond to AFP's requests for comment.

Risks

Read from the sources; not yet reviewed by a person.

Controls

Not yet read for controls. Controls that mitigate the primary risk:

Application

Data minimisation · Sensitive-data checks on outbound data · Human approval for high-impact actions · Output filtering and redaction · People told they are dealing with AI · Risk assessment per deployment

Infrastructure / target

Bot and scraping defences

Evidence

No source states: what the AI was doing, what went wrong, what it reached or did, when it happened, when it was found, how many records were exposed, the direct loss, a count of the other parties affected, any court case, the cause, what set it off, what was done.
