A Charlotte man used an AI platform to generate original images of child sexual abuse material, including images depicting prepubescent minors, and used the same platform to nudify existing images of real people. In April 2023 the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a cybertip that he was uploading such material to an online account. In December 2023 authorities executed a search warrant at his home and seized nine devices containing more than 30,000 AI-generated images and videos and over 8,600 other images and videos of CSAM. He pleaded guilty on April 23, 2025 to possession and access with intent to view child pornography involving a minor under 12, and to obscene visual representations of sexual abuse of children. He was sentenced on January 27, 2026 to 78 months in prison, followed by lifetime supervised release, sex offender registration and restitution.
